The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

A week ago I finished reading the magical book „The Rosie-Project“ by Australian author and former IT consultant Graeme Simsion.

The 39-year-old geneticist and university lecturer Dr. Don Tillman finally wants to get married and creates a questionnaire to find suitable candidates. That shouldn't be that difficult: He's good looking, has a good income and plays regular sports. But because he has Asperger's Syndrome, his relationships with women (and with other people in general) are difficult.

The Rosie-Project

Don Tillman looks a bit like Mr. Spock from the series "Starship Enterprise": He is guided by logic and feelings such as sadness, fear and euphoria shake him less than other people. That changes when red-haired smoker, bartender, and psychology graduate student Rosie sneaks into his life. Don falls in love with her without realizing it and he helps her track down her real father through his knowledge of genetics.

As the story progresses, Don pours cocktails at a reunion of 54-year-old medical graduates, drives across Australia and flies to New York with Rosie – all to find out who got her mother pregnant at a prom 30 years ago. Love hits him hard and he has to try to convince Rosie that he has feelings too before there can be a happy ending...
